Since January, the University of Nebraska- Lincoln has been battling bed bugs after students returned to dorms from winter break. Bed bug- sniffing dogs have found the bugs in 43 rooms on campus, a number smaller than anticipated by university personnel.
The university currently has two dogs on campus going through various rooms in residence halls. School officials hope to have a total of five dogs on campus by next week to inspect all 3,256 dorm rooms on campus.
University spokeswoman Kelly Bartling said over $50,000 has been spent on bed bug efforts so far. Officials project that riding the campus of the bugs will exceed $100,000. Find out more about the university’s efforts in the article on Omaha World-Herald’s website.
