The literary world’s new monsters… bed bugs

Posted by BedBugPlague in September 21st 2011

No one enjoys a bed bug infestation, especially author Ben H. Winters.Courtesy of benhwinters.com In his new thriller, “Bedbugs: A Novel” these little pests are the monsters tormenting the main characters, Alex and Susan Wendt. After moving into their dream apartment in Brooklyn, the Wendts should have known things were too good to be true. Winters explained in an article by Dorothy Robinson why these creepy crawlers made the perfect “bad guys” for his new novel:

“They are just rife with anxiety,” Winters said. “…It feels so outside of our control and unsettling that there are little things that could be crawling on us and [we don’t] even know it.”

With increased reports of bed bug infestations around the U.S., it’s no surprise why Winters used bed bugs as a subject in his newest novel. To avoid ending up like the Wendts, check out Bed Bugs 101 about how to protect your family and consider mattress protectors from Protect-A-Bed, to protect your sleep zone. Thanks for the shout-out. Actually, if you want to avoid bed bugs, your Bed Bugs 101 is a good resource, as are the FAQ at Bedbugger.com.

“To avoid ending up like the Wendts” (warning, spoilers), you need to love and trust the people dear to you and to live up to the expectations that come with such love and trust. :)
