No one enjoys a bed bug infestation, especially author Ben H. Winters.
In his new thriller, “Bedbugs: A Novel” these little pests are the monsters tormenting the main characters, Alex and Susan Wendt. After moving into their dream apartment in Brooklyn, the Wendts should have known things were too good to be true. Winters explained in an article by Dorothy Robinson why these creepy crawlers made the perfect “bad guys” for his new novel:
“They are just rife with anxiety,” Winters said. “…It feels so outside of our control and unsettling that there are little things that could be crawling on us and [we don’t] even know it.”
With increased reports of bed bug infestations around the U.S., it’s no surprise why Winters used bed bugs as a subject in his newest novel.
